27,000 miles...might be time for a clutch. It all depends on how it was driven during those miles.

About 10 years ago, one of my co-workers bought a MINT 1985 Mustang GT convertible. It was very nice and only had about 45000 miles. The original clutch felt like brand new. Every day he would back out of the parking spot with about 2500RPM and then he would take off at about 3000RPM. He didn't take off fast...just used WAY TOO MUCH clutch and WAY TOO MANY RPM...like he was afraid to stall it.

This kid had no idea how to use a clutch. I didn't tell him about it. I didn't like the kid and knew he would ignore my advise completely...in fact, I figured he would resent me telling him my thoughts...this kid was a real stuck up you know what. I just told him "nice car Dave!" and went about my merry way.

About a month later I noticed he was at work but the Mustang wasn't. He sounded SOOO ****** when I asked him where it was...his clutch went out...I hope he didn't see me smile.

There are subtle differences in clutching technique that make a world of difference on clutch life.
