Interior Remodeling - with PIX (dial-up beware)

I've moved from the engine compartment to the interior and pretty much finished up today. I rearranged, added and deleted some gauges, added a GenII center console, and put in new carpet. While the seats were out I gave them all a good Lexol cleaning and conditioning. I also painted the trim bolts to clean them up a bit. The carpet went in pretty easily, just have to take your time cutting out for the bolts and electrical. Cutting around the roll cage where it mounts to the base of the b-pillar and the black box where the trunk and fuel release are located proved to be the most challenging, but really weren't that bad.

It ran me about $160 delivered with front floor mats (I don't have a need for rear ones). It's genuine ACC Carpet, a well known aftermarket company that makes molded carpets. I'm actually really happy with the fit and installation was really pretty easy.

On the a-pillar are boost, oil and fuel pressure. In the center console is volts, engine temp, and oil temp. The oil temp gauge is really a tranny temp gauge that's temporarily metering oil temp until I add the quaife and drill the tranny for the sending unit.

Where did you get the gauge pod under the stereo?

It's a radio delete plate from Ford (PN E9SZ-6304371-A) with three 2" holes drilled in it. I had to elongate the holes a bit with a dremel and sanding bit, but the gauges fit fine. I have angle rings to point them towards the driver and up a bit. The rings also cover a gap that shows above and behind the gauges after you cut the plate. When you cut the plate you will end up cutting most of the clips that hold it in - to resolve that I used a wire on each end connected to the gauge fastener, then ran the other end out the back of the dash and while pulling the gauge face tight to the dash, tightened the wire under a bolt I found on each side. Otherwise, it just won't sit snug against the dash.

It's not a wrap, it's an FR500 steering wheel from the Mustang GT. Pretty much plug and play, except I'm not 100% the air bag works and I'm not sure of the best way to find out!!

That is the best looking SHO I think I have ever gazed upon. But I have a question, whats the point of keeping the rear seats in? Undoubtedly I have seen it in quite a few cars with rollcages, like my uncles porsche. But wouldnt you want to lose the small amt of weight from removing the seats?

I bought an ACC carpet when my car still had the sandstone interior, it installed well and fit nice but it did not seem to hold up over time. Compared to the carpet in the 89-90 the ACC stuff was OK but in 91 Ford switch to a much better grade of carpet (as you can see on you 2nd gen console). I ended up getting a thicker carpet that is closer to the 2nd gen style for my black interior.

It's just not enough weight to offset the looks. I guess I could get more carpet and finish running it under the seat bottom and up the back, but why? It'd be better to just leave the seats in and get a 12psi pulley.

I knew that the GenII's had heavier carpet (18oz vs 16oz, or something like that) but I didn't think any aftermarket companies distinguished b/w GenI weight and GenII weight - I thought they were all the same. All in all I'm happy with it and it's not a daily driver, so I'm sure it'll hold up just fine.

If it's not a daily driver (like mine) it should work just fine. I just got done taking apart my '93 parts car and the difference in the carpets is quiet noticable. In you application your ACC carpet actually suites you need a bit better by not weighing as much (15lb vs around 40lb). How much was that FR500 wheel? I really like it.
