Intercooler water sprayer

So, had some spare time and a spare $20, so I decided to test out temp reduction with a little evaporative cooling. I'll be doing a log once my laptop is charged up. It was incredibly easy to install, took about 1.5hrs, was stopping to take pictures (undid half the mounting process to get pics) and trying to decide where to put the damn button. I ended up not using the nozzles since they shot like lasers into the intercooler and opted for cutting small holes in the line every 1/2 in to an inch pointed at the cooler. So far it gives a great misting effect and it fairly unnoticeable sitting in front of the cooler.

I did the same thing but using the stock windshield wiper fluid tank back in the day on my GH intercooler between runs at the strip. Good stuff.

Tested it while sitting in the drive through, temp went down about 12 degrees. However I think I need to cut the holes slightly bigger just to get a little more fluid on the cooler while moving. I think the stream is too weak in motion.

I've tested on the GH intercooler with ice water and was able to get it below ambient while driving on the highway. I think you'll be happy with the results once you get it fine tuned.

How much it cools will be largely a matter of the ambient relative humidity. It will be much more effective here in CO than in MN because of that.

Thinking about building a IC sprayer but want to use a Hobbs switch to control the water flow. What PSI boost would you use to turn on the system?

Personally around 5 psi for me.
