I know its been discussed before, but where is the cheapest source for the plastic coated metal gaskets used on the intake. I seem to remember Autozone carried them, around $50. Have to search it as a 91 SHO, too.

Let me know if I'm all wet.

Thanks,

You might be confused, and refering to the valve cover gaskets. I got mine from Ford, and I only paid 24$ aprox. You can prolly get them cheaper from FPN. Best place to get geniue Ford parts at a discount.

The black coated metal shim-type gaskets between the intake manifold and the heads are called the intake manifold gaskets and the lowest price sources for the Motorcraft E9DZ-9439-A are from FordPartsOnline.com for $12.14 ea. or FordPartsNetwork.com for $12.49 ea. (there are 2 required, one for each head).

The molded rubber seals between the valve covers and the heads are called the valve cover gaskets. These come cheapest in the Fel-Pro VS50378R set that also includes the 6 rubber covered metal spark plug well seals. Those seals are around $30 each from Ford ($180+)! The Fel-Pro valve cover gasket set is priced lowest from AutoZone.com for $71.99 (look up for a '91 SHO) or next from RockAuto.com for $81.35.

Nope, I meant the "generally re-usable plastic coated metal intake gaskets" (thats a mouthful). Did you mean you got the intake gaskets for $24? That's cheaper than what I remember. Cool! I'll try FPN.

Thanks, we've already got the valve cover set with plug seals. I just trying to think of anything else that may need replacement on a 100k car (when doing the top half of a 60k).

I called 3 dealers and one had them instock. Paid $13.45 a gasket for those for the intake. It was more cost effective to gettem from the dealer than to wait on FPN, or anyplace else.

I think my total was $30 something with tax. I wish I had saved one of my old ones so that I could use it as a pattern for my intake runners that I jsut started porting today.

Well when i went to ford to get the spark plug gaskets( i can't remember for the life of me the proper name) they go in the valve covers the wanted some thing like $23 each and i needed 6 of them! I returned all the gaskets i got at ford and saved money by buying the felpro.

GOOD LUCK!
Pat
