For whatever reason when I bought my car there were no torque dampers on the left and right of the motor. I have the two dampers now and have been stalling to put them in because it looks like a royal PITA to get them in there. I plan on taking the intake off and I figure that would be a good time to do everything since it'll probably have to come off anyways. My question is, can these be put in with the motor in the car? It looks like an unbelievably tight fit on the trans mounted damper, and just a tedious pain in the ass on the passengers side. So can these be put on with the motor in the car, or do I drop the subframe and let the motor down alittle to allow for more room? This has to be done I can't put it off any longer because something will end up broke. :thankyou:

First if you have reinforced mounts they wont do much.

Second I would check how good the dampers are. If they can be easily moved they wont do much.

3rd you can install them with the intake on.

The trans mounted damper can be accessed through the fenderwell IIRC.

The one on the passenger side can be done pretty easily with the battery out and the power steering reservoir out of the way, as long as the bracket is still on the engine.

I put mine in with everything on the car. It sucked. I honestly dont know if removing the intake will help or not. But as LOUDSHO said if you have ref. motor mounts and or the dampers are well used they wont do anything.

the mount on the passenger side is not on there, and I will be getting all the hardware needed since I didn't get the bolts with the ones I bought

ok so I went to the junkyard today and pull both torque dampers off a car there, took about 3.5 hours, most of it was getting the intake off which definately had to be done, rounded bolts on the timing cover which I wanted but didn't get, and rusted bolts holding the lower end of the trans damper on. but they did eventually come out, the passenger's side was **** and I'm really not looking forward to putting that in, and the trans side was pretty easy once I got the nuts free (I forgot my trusty pipe).
