who here has installed SFC's?

some people have told me that it could catch the carpet on fire or such inside the car from the heat of the welder... I kind of think this is a valid argument...

do you guys strip out the seats and carpet before installing them or do you not even worry about it?

thanks for any input

Installed mine without any problems; didn't even think of possible carpet fire.
Don't go to all the extra work of removing the seats, carpet, etc. Just make sure the contact area is good and clean.

The parts where you actually weld them on are not flat against the floor. Your welding to the U channel and to the rear TQ box. I have done 10 sets so far and never worried about fire. Some cars that get SFC's welded on need the carpet removed as they are put flat against the floor.

ok...

I've never put my car on a lift and actually matched up my SFC's to see where they should end up being positioned... they are Short style ones from bittersweet..

I think they might go BEHIND the frame rail(what I call it)

I guess I might rip up my carpeting from the door pull it towards the console and put it back when its done being welded... I don't have the confidence to weld these myself, plus I hear its better to use a drive on lift with the wheels supported... I only have a frame pick-up point style lifts...

The shorties still weld to the frame rail.

Here's a decent shot of when I installed mine:
