I have decided to boost the SHO no questions asked. With help from NCtuarus I have decided that boosting the sho is what is going to happen. I currently have the tranny and motor out of the car. I am going to be completely overhauling the engine. All new sensors and gaskets. I am also gettin the intake manifold ported and powdercoated all black as well as the valve covers. I am also doing a valve lash adjustment and am sending my differential out to be reinforced. I was thinking about the quaife but its too much money for right now. I will be reinforcing the diff and not dumping the clutch so I think everything should be ok.

A few questions. Where can I get 48lb injectors that will fit the stock set up, where can i get an 80mm maf, where can i get the tweecer and where can i get a high volume fuel pump. IM NOT LOOKING TO SPEND BIG BUCKS< used parts and such are fine. Thanks for the help. I really hope to be one of the boosted sho's on the forum soon.

he is the cheapiest source for fuel pumps (should be less than $100) i've been able to find. when you contact him tell him somedude sent you and tell him what your doing. they worked very closely with me building my turbo setup so they should be able to help with a lot of stuff.

the tweecer RT can be purchased from shonutperformance.com the non RT model can be purchased from shobrosgarage.com.

I ended up getting shoshop injectors becasue accel changed their design and they no longet fit so i'm stuck with 44lb accel injectors.

Personally, I would get a Quaife. My advice is to save your money and do it right the first time instead of spending more doing it two or three times.

I would say the quiafe is a good idea as well, but that's not what I'm posting about. I have a full turbo kit including maf, injectors, tweecer, fuel pump and everything else that I have roughly $1,500 in.

Here's the break down:

turbo kit with intercooler: $400
tweecer: $450
Maf: $15
Injectors: $250 ~approximately
fuel pump: $50
fuel pressure regulator: $230
little odds and ends such as a hose or two maybe some vacuum lines and such: $105 give or take on this one cause I'm not done installing the kit yet.
total: $1500


My turbo kit is a properly built, fully functional kit that everything has been done right. I have only used the best parts. I do have a quiafe already though. the car has full suspension and is ready for boost. When I'm done, the car will be able to run ~9 psi without any problems and it should be safe for a lot more boost than that as well. I'm going to start with 7 psi(wastegate spring) and go to 9 or 10 from there depending on the power levels I'm pushing. I'm looking for usable power levels that I can use all over. I'm not looking to be spinning through half the gears. That's not what the car is built for.

You also have to understand, before you start with this turbo setup, what are you building the car for? a dialy driver or a weekend bruiser

this isn't some ebay POS is it? if it is take it back you will only get a couple of weeks out of the turbo.

a good intercooler should cost around $250+ depending on size, and a new turbo could be as low as $450 depending on size and options. i don't and never will buy a used turbo on ebay because i have seen dozens of people burned on "rebuilt turbos" *YOU DON'T REBUILD AND BALLANCE A TURBO TO RESELL IT*

no it's not some ebay turbo kit. It is a really nice turbo kit that some of the details will be displayed when I am done installing it. And as for intercoolers being that pricey, no way. I picked one up for use on a friends car for around 80 dollars and it's working great with no issues. The turbo I have was picked up from my friend. It is secondhand, but it is still in great shape with low miles. The other turbo I am thinking about getting was used by my brother and it's in great shape as well, just slightly larger than the turbo I already have, with even less miles. All the piping and such is found really cheap if you go to an exhaust shop or a metal shop and ask what they have for scrap metal. Take the tubing you need and have fun. it's a homemade kit that has taken some time but not very much money at all. And before you start naysaying anything, understand that I don't care how much of a bad idea you think it is to use a used turbo. I've seen these turbos work and the only reason they got rid of them was to upgrade to a bigger turbo. Turbo kits can be made for really cheap if you are willing to take some time and effort researching the parts and such. I have done my research and I have done it well. take your time and research the parts you are interested in before you buy. Used parts are not always bad, just make sure you get good used parts as I have done. Piping is cheap and if you have the time and money, buy a tubing bender (or borrow your friends) and bend it to the proper spec. Once you have it all bent, go get some new piping done in the same shape but mandrel bent.

we are running a used Garrett GT42 turbo from an international truck (power company to be exact) and a used intercooler made from a diesel truck cut in half with caps welded on the ends. used is good. ours wasn't expensive either. you got it right strings1732. we have the exhaust pipe bender and everything. we got injectors out of a wrecked supercoupe with 38 lb injectors, and the MAF for the 38's and the SAFC for tuning. it has worked great. there is nothing wrong with used.

1 is your trans stock cause the 3rd gear strips with 350lb of tq. i know that the sho motor can handle a 75 shot of nos. with stock internals...and can take 7-9 psi with a turbo on stock pistons so it all depends on what your running i guess.

One good reason to spray on a turbo car is to spool the turbo faster. Optionally, you can spray the intercooler and that will gain you some power. But on the other hand, I have a nitrous kit that used to be on my car and I'm thinking about putting it back on my car for those certain instances where I'm at the drag strip or something. Depending on the power levels I'm pushing when all is said and done with the turbo kit of course.

All I planned on was a small shot like you quoted. As for the axles well we're working on that problem. I was tearing up one every 2 weeks at the track with slicks on and that was no turbo as well. My brother owns a machine shop and we've been working on a set of HD axles for a much cheaper price than the 900 bucks some of them run.

Well that's good. I'd be interested in a set of axles if they were pretty stout and cheap to boot! I'm going to need some anyway. I just planned on forking over the 900 when I break my current ones. I'll put my spares in till I get them, but if you are having some made, let me know how much.
