This is in reference to me doing my 60k maintainence on the front of my MTX. I am planning to change out the waterpump, cps and timing belt, I was just wondering should I replace my tensioner pulley for the cam belt? I mean there isn't anything wrong with it but it has close to 190k miles on it, so should I replace it even though it's still in working condition? Thanks for your help.

If you've got the funds, and time, go for it. Given it's a high mileage motor, it would really suck if you had to go back in there due to a bad tensioner a couple of hundred miles down the road.

Yes, I would replace your front main seal along with your cam seals. Buy the Ford seals, they are the same price, but fit much much better.

Ok one question though, where can I attain Ford cam and main seals from? Is it only available at the Ford Dealerships or do ya'll know of any other places that sell these ford seals? And how much am I supposed to be looking to spend for these seals. Thanks

You can go to your dealership if you want, it will be a hassle unless you have part numbers. Or....you can get the part numbers from/and or order them straight from...

www.shonutperformance.com

Or buy them from www.fastpartsnetwork.com

Ok I will buy a new tensioner right now from RCM. Is there anything else I should replace or be concerned about? Thanks Mr95gl
Why would you buy anything from RCM?

There's nothing he sells that you can't find for the same price or less at your local NAPA, at RockAuto, or elsewhere. The timing belt tensioner is a perfect example: http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=51169

Not true...RCM is good as package prices...go to your local NAPA and see if they can actually GET the part, let alone what the price is...I went looking for a clutch (I get 15% discount) and they didn't even have the updated size listed, and when he made some calls there wasn't a single upgraded one left in stock ANYWHERE...

NAPA parts seem to be all ASE while our engines are made to ISO specs. Every non-american car I have ever owned has had problems with NAPA parts. RCM has a good reputation, they are friendly and always try to work with the customer whenever there is a problem. Customer service goes a long for me. The local NAPA always ignores what i say and orders me parts for a SLO taurus(very annoying). Napa will probably be cheaper for belts, but the RCM ones will last a little longer and are made from better materials.
