After searching for the upper idler and tensioner pulley for the 3.2 I have found that sho shouce is the only place that sells the bearings.but I have found threads saying that the pulley for the 3.2 will work on the 3.0, just the pulley and bearing.obv you would use the mount, bolt and bushings from your motor but is this true? If so can the goodyear pulley 49005 be used for both? If so why has everyone made such a big deal about getting the pulleys?it list for a 3.0 sho

That pulley is not correct, that is why it isn't used

The idler pulley bearings are SHO specific and why they are hard to get.

So that pulley that list for a 89 3.0 sho will not fit a 89 3.0 sho?not asking if the bearings out of it will fit in our pulley just if the whole pulley will fit?

So is the rest true? Is the pulley from a 3.2 the same for 3.0?basically need to know if I can look for 3.0 motors in the junk yard also.or any other model that the pulley will work for the upper idler or tensioner on a 3.2 atx

The pulley is not the same, but the bearings are. Are you missing the idler altogether?

Then how are people saying they have used the 3.2 pulley with 3.0 bolt&spacer on a 3.0? No just bearing is bad.I know the newer sho have a bearing we can use but I cant even find the newer pulleys

The 3.2 and 3.0 pulleys are different. Also the 3.0 has a 4rib and 6 rib pulley as well.

I do not know who has said it can be done and I have not seen it done.

Since the bearing is the same in the idler it may work but I do not know about the offset. Even so there is not much to be gained from it unless you have the pulley around.

The bearings we sell on SHO Source are brand new and will give you many years of good service. Many of them have lasted 20 years so these will probably last just as long.

Well turns out its not the idler or tensioner. Sounds like it may be the water pump.just hoping its not something like a timing belt pulley because im not showing any other problems with the water pump.its a very loud squeak like a pulley bearing and goes away after its warm.also after its real warm and has been driven for awile it will stumble and run real ruff if you shut it off and restart.you gota give it gas for a bit then it starts to run smooth but I think that has something to do with fuel. I can smell gas when I shut it off and its real warm:(
