I Just found out this week that no one (not even Ford) has idler pulleys for SHOs. Other than removing and pressing new bearings into the old ones, are there interchange idler pulleys from other Ford products we can use?????

If not, does anyone out there have info. on the replacement bearing (i.e. brand, part number, etc.) for these??? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

You can order them through SHOSource. You can either order just the bearing and press it yourself, send in your pulley when you order it and they'll press it, or pay the core charge, they'll send you a good used pulley with the new bearing pressed in and you send the old one back when you install the new one and get a refund for the core charge.

You can find the pulleys here on their site:

Hope this helps!

there is no where you can find these bearings other than shosource! i went to a local bearing company that makes bearing for automotive/heavy truck/marine use and they didnt even have anything the same size. basically the guy just smiled and shook his head. order them from shosource and save yourself the headache.

The Gen 3 bearings work or you can just use the Gen 3 idler pulley. It does not need to be ribbed or have a raised edge.

I have several used ones.

Not unless the belt is too loose. The Gen 3s originally came with a raised lip on the outside edges of the pulleys then they went to a rounded edge.

But the actual bearing is so easy to press out and press in you can easily use your original pulley.
