My standard taurus owner's guide (1993) outlines an idle reset procedure that is different than the sticky thread. For atx cars it goes like this:
1. Start car (with no accessories running) and bring engine to normal operating temperature while in park.
2. Shift to neutral and idle for one minute.
3.Shift to drive and idle for one minute.
4.Complete the above procedure with the a/c on and off(this is what it says in the guide)
The guide then says that the process will complete as you drive. Is this also a correct way to reset the idle, or is it just ford vagueness?
