Ok, I'm done looking. Somewhere, here or at v8sho, I saw an article where someone made a tool out of an old metal coathanger to remove the ICP (football) from his GenIII. I can't find it anywhere, and I need to get this hunk of crap pulled so I can try to fix it. Any tips? Suggestions? I am slowly growing disinterested in this car because of this. I want to drive it, but not if I can't get the defroster to not work.

Thanks in advance for any help. :hail:

i have a tip/idea. I used this idea to get the football out of my sable....take 4 nails that fit in the holes...push them in and pull out the football....easy as cake....

Thanks for the quick reply! Ok, so it just snaps back in? I'm so hesitant to start yanking things around. The pic I saw some time ago was sort of the same thing as you suggest. Does the unit sort of just "pop" out to grab? Do you have to get all four points to release at the same time? I'm going to give it a try when I get home from work tomorrow. Again, thanks so much. :thumb:

The four nails do the trick. Or you can go to an auto parts store and buy a removal tool, basicaly a U shaped coat hanged type thing. The trick is to push the nails to the outside once they are all in . Then the whole unit pulls right out.

Good luck

The coat hanger trick didn't work very well for me. I reccomend the U-shaped tool, as it also doubles as a handle to pull the football out with. Yes, it snaps back in.
