Im new to the SHOforums and I see that you all are a semi-local group. Im currently having some problems with my SHO. Specifically I am worried about the transmission...as I cannot get my car to engage the reverse gear. Before I go to far and start tearing into the shifting mechanisms, I would like to get an expert opinion. Any help would be appreciated.

yes I have tried that trick, that is why I am getting concerned. It got stuck in 'no gear' when I tried to put it in reverse the other day... then I forced it out of being stuck and it wouldnt go into reverse. So.... I don't know what to do... and would like to know what I am looking for before I start disassembling anything.

Where are you in MI? Always use a foreward gear to stop the ring gear before trying reverse so you don't grind it! I like 3rd also. If you are anywhere near Rochester call me.

bill, i actually work in auburn hills, right near the oakland university campus. And regardless of putting it into 3rd first, i cannot get into reverse. it goes right in the slot, the reverse light comes on... but no gear.
