I broke the bolt for the oil strainer/ pick-up tube. One of the ones that connect to the motor. What can I do?

first question...how the **** did you break one of those? they don't require THAT much torque...anyway...can you get the remains of the stud out, or are you gonna have to go in with a drill, tap and die and get a bigger bolt?

Too much torque! I was getting tired. I just wanted to know if it was a removable stud pretty much. If its removeable I'll get it out. Just thought I'd ask before I tried.

Yep it's most certainly removable...but of there are no threads left to do the old "double nut" trick...you may find it hard to get a grip on the remnants with pliers.

If you have a tiny pipe wrench, that may work best.

Left hand drill bits and the drill running in reverse. It will go about 1/2 way into the broken bolt then catch and back the whole thing out.

I believe that the oil pump pickup tube studs are the same size and pitch as the thermostat housing studs.
