Well I think it's one peice, part of the headlight. But to remove the headlight, there's two clips that hold these black plastic peices. You have to remove the clips. Then there's a little metal rod, it's like a 6 or 7 mm size for a socket. I think you have to loosen that some. There might be another metal clip too. Hope that helps. :)

Okay, the rod that comes up from the bottom releases from a groove up-top...but is connected to the bottom somehow..thats where I got stuck last time after releasing those small tabs up-top

Be careful that you don't loosen it too much since you could break the housing that it's in. Basically it connects to a gear down at the bottom which releases it from the header panel. Or maybe it's just for adjusting the aim? In that case there should be another one of those clips behind the lower part of the headlight, but I'm not sure how you get at it.

My Gen I is just a parts car, and the whole headlight assembly is gone.

SHO Nick, the information posted thus far is mostly erroneous. There are three retaining clips holding in each headlamp assembly. The easiest way to remove them is with long snap ring pliers, or long angled needle-nose pliers. There are no nuts, bolts, screws, rods, or anything else that need to be removed or adjusted to remove the headlamp assy's. Once the three clips are removed, the entire assembly will simply slide out. You might need to wiggle the assy a little when pulling it out to get it free.
