I was doing some mainteneance, trying to find a problem, and I looked up the alldata procedure for the EGR valve and all that, go to test it, and I don't have one. A guy told me it was because the SHO engine ran clean enough and was engineered so it didn't have to have one, but there was a place on the plenum where there could be one, so were some SHOs equipped from the factory and some not?

And some of the non-EGR SHOs are finding out that they are not quite clean enough for the ever tightening emissions regulations. The NOx emission component that the EGR is designed to reduce through cooler combustion chamber temperatures has become a challenge in the metropolitan areas that limit this byproduct.

When I removed mine on the 92, my N0x doubled (still under the limit). This was when I was right outside of Atlanta. In upstate NY, no sniffers. (not yet anyway).

In Atlanta it was always a 30-45 min wait in the summer time, sitting in line waiting your turn. So we got 15-20 cars out there at any given time (multiply that by how ever many stations there are) sitting there idling, burning up gas and polluting the air. Wonder how much pollution those inspections actually cause? And then when your vehicle is a certain age ('76 like my dad's work van now) it's exempt. Which makes a lot of sense, leave the heavy polluters out there :)

Just another tax for the tree huggers to fund some worthless gov. program.

my SHO is pretty clean running without the egr; I did an emissions test on it the other day and had about 0% CO and NOx, but my CO2 was a little high.
