Hi everyone,

As many of you have experienced, my exhaust pip broke right after the ******. I see this is a common problem and many people use the walker clamp to fix the issue. I looked up a picture of the part online and I don't seem to understand how it works, though the picture may just be a generic one of one of their products.

The reason I ask is part of my pipe seems to be missing, either it eroded away or broke off. Does the walker part just clamp the 2 broken ends together or is there some kind of sleeve that fits over the pipe? I would rather avoid the hassle of cutting or welding if possible.

An explanation, or even pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Which picture are you looking at? I googled a couple, but I don't see how they would fix your issue.

I took mine to a shop to have them just weld the pipe to the ******, but he wouldn't do it. He said it would still leak, but I'm not convinced.

Just got done replacing the pipe last night. Sounds a lot better now despite having to hack the receiving end significantly.

If you don't have a workaround, I took some wire and did figure 8s around the ****** bolts and the pipe that broke off. It kept it lined up when not under tension (acceleration) for a couple of days until I could fix it. Surprised at how well it worked!

I don't understand how it would fix my issue either, thats why I was asking how it worked. Did you replace the entire mid pipe? Did you get one off another vehicle?

Are you refering to the Y-pipe to center pipe junction and its donut gasket? If so I have used a slip over Walker clamp to squeeze a couple more years out of my centerpipe/resonator.

Let me know, I might have the part number kicking around.

I think that's what he's looking for.

Yes, I replaced the mid-pipe. I have the dynomax exhaust so I could just order up that one piece:

Yeah thats what I am talking about. I found the part number in another thread, I was just curious as to how it worked? Would you be able to take a picture of it installed? The two flanges are still bolted together but the pipe broke off right after the ******. I don't see how a slip over clamp would work with the ****** right there and no pipe after the ****** to grip on.

Will take a picture tonight, as I now have that centerpipe out of the car. Basically the supplied set of bolts and nuts let you put this split collar over the pipe. The tapered ****** on the inside of it opens towards the end of the pipe that goes to the Y-pipe. This will grab the very base of your existing flare, and allow you to attach the centerpipe to the Y-pipe. I think I got 2 years and not very many miles out of it as my centerpipe flare was corroding at the OD..

You will first have to Dremel or hacksaw the existing collar off the pipe.

Also, I found I had to buy an extra set of nuts to thread onto the longer bolts that attach the collar to the Y-pipe, otherwise the springs would bottom out (nuts end up between the collar and the Y-pipe ******)

I finally just said screw it and had a shop weld it for me. I never take my car to the shop but it was only 65 bucks and I've been putting it off for a long time just dealing with the loud noise and wearing ear plugs. Today I reached a breaking point and said "I am going to get this taken care of, TODAY" Only took about 20 minutes at the shop and man did it feel good to pull out of that parking lot with a normal sounding car, hahaha. I almost forgot what that is like. The clamp is a much cheaper and easier solution but it was one of those things where I got a bug up my ass to do it so I just did it.
