my car when i purchased it was missing the moonroof switch and the whole little pod thing that holds it with the front in car lights. It has the motor for it and everything in place and i purchased the part i needed i just have no clue as to how in the world this would go installed. If anyone can help me out im stumped i see the bolts that are used to hold it on but they are under the pod so i have no clue how to get to them. I apologize if this is covered somewere else.

It's been awhile since I've had mine off. As I don't like to disturb the cover more than necessary as the plastic mounting tabs can separate the metal supports from the plastic cover.

I find it easiest to do with the sunroof open (as in rolled back into the roof).

The back of the cover has two 'prongs' that you push into the roof, and then swing it down and the two metal tabs in the front have screws that mount it into the roof. Then you can install the lights.

Make sure all the wiring is plugged in before you start to install the cover.

It can be a pain, and don't force push anything too hard. Once the metal tabs break off from the inside of the cover it is almost impossible to get them to hold tight again with JB weld.

Yeap, that metal tab broke from the inside plastic on my car. I had luck and was able to glue it back in.

So yeah SHOtimer just be careful with that metal tab. It's really not that hard to install the whole thing.

What's the easiest way to remove the cover? I'm pretty sure my switch is fine but the button seems broken, just kind of hangs in there.

You start by removing the map light buttons/lights, be gentle with them since they can also break easily. Use a thin flat screwdriver to pull them off. Next remove the light bulbs to have more room and so you can see a couple of phillps screws. Remove those and you will notice that the cover will begin to hang.
Once all the screws have been removed the only thing left making the cover hang is the metal support on the back, which you just kinda lowe the cover all the way down and gently pull it off.

You can try to glue the button or I think I've read somewhere that you can use power window button from a Contour to replace yours if it's badly damaged.

Once you remove the two phillips screws from behind the map lights, you then need to gently pull back on the cover (towards the back of the car) and slide the two metal prongs out of their mounting location.

Then it will drop down.
