hey guys - 1991 SHO: I pulled off the cladding on the door because I have rust on the door and also rust in the metal strip in the cladding (black strip). Any ideas on how to remove the strip from the cladding so I can repair the rust?

Also, several of the clips broke when i pulled the cladding off the door (very brittle). It is the receiving end that broke that goes in the door. Any ideas on replacements? Thanks!

Its best to use a thin dual blade tool to pry it off at each pin.
I have good used pins and new receiving bushings if needed.
They are not the easiest things to remove, very tight.

My metal strips were rotted out, and removal effort finished them off.
My solution was to substitute plastic body mounding (comes in a roll) in the recess of the cladding. It has an adhesive backing that sticks to the cladding, and after application, you trim the ends with a 45 degree cut. Otherwise, when you open the door, it catches on the bodywork.

If that sounds too rural for you, the ordinary Taurus had chrome / stainless spears that withstand the rust much better and can be painted to match. But that will require a trip to the wrecking yard.
