Oh Dear GOD, not another GTP thread!! In before the lock. Learn how to drive your five speed...REALLY well. Worked for me thumbs_u GTP's are very quick cars, but stock to stock the SHO will usually hold it's own against a GTP. Unless it's an ATX. Flame retardent suit on :p

Just wondering...........what is a respectable 0-60 for the SHO? Please excuse my ignorance but this is my first performance car since way back when I was driving a mid-12 second 1974 Nova. boink Built it all from a "smogger" 2 bolt main 350! (you younger folk probably don’t have any idea!) Used to take first and second past 7500RPM.......sorry got a little carried away there!! Anyway, I never owned anything like my SHO and I was just curious as to those times. Unofficially, I have mine around 5 seconds??????????? good??? thumbs_u

The better 0 to 60 times measured by Car and Driver and Road & Track for a manual trans SHO were 6.4 and 6.6 seconds. The automatic versions only measured in the 7.6 sec range - a good second slower.

Sorta hard to measure unless you got some expensive test gear, fun to play around with the g-tech but can vary widly if you don't have it mounted right in the car and the road isn't level.

On my "test road", A low 6 sec run is about all have mustered out of my 92 powershifting (main-stream mags don't power shift, or abuse the clutch on launch). 5.7 sec is about what the 89 runs on the motor. Mid 4's at the drags with the slicks and nitrous.

My old beater 89 4 banger probe was clocked at 10.9 sec :)

The easiest way to get a better 0-60 time is to get a V8 Mustang. :p

Seriously, it'll probably cost you less to buy a beater 5.0 foxbody car, than to mod up a SHO enough.

Our SHOs are not good 0-60 cars. Period.
We are highway warriors. From a 70 mph roll we can beat/keep up with almost anything. Off the line, we're a little weak.

Thanks, I can drive my 5 spd pretty good, after 70 I will smoke just about anything with in reason... I can get the GTP up until about the time I shift into 2nd and then he just barely stays ahead of me.

Werent those massive 350's low end torque monsters? Plus you get some major valve float past ~6500rpm. I always thought they made there power down low, and used high gear ratios. its hard to imagine a 350 2 bolt main making its power past 7500...but then again im sure you were heavily modified to run a 12 sec 1/4m. <---sorry about my rambling.

not many small blocks CAN go to 7500...

And even if they can they dont last very long.

Assuming SR71's halfshafts are good, what would you get with NOS (100shot), and slicks? plus your weight reduction? -- maybe go on an atkins diet before your 0-60 run. jk about the latter!

I posted it above. In the mid 4's (ala g-tech) at the drag strip with slicks and nitrous.

Halfshafts are custom HD units, they held up all last year with no problems.
