I am wondering how hard it would be to get an unbroken stud out of the manifold. I noticed that two sides on the end of the studs are flat. I want to do this because one ofthe studs will not stay tight. I don't want to over tighten it and snap it and I don't want to use loc-tite. One of the studs was broken when my rod bearings were done and a makeshift stud was made. That is another reason i want to change them. Has anyone had any experience on this?

The end of the stud is SUPPOSED to be flat. So you can turn it with a wrench or vice grips.

What won't stay tight, the nut on the stud? The stud only needs to be turned in far enough that it stays put. Then the nut goes on tight to hold the y-pipe on tight.

If you heat it up and use lots of **** it's still a little work to turn them. Make sure you don't over-force it, take your time and go little by little.

When I took mine off for a clutch job, I brok 3/4 of them, since the nut wouldn't move on the stud. I had to take the manifolds off, I put them in a vice with a friend on the gas torch. Took about 2 minutes per stud to get them out. :thumb: But it was a small pain to get the manifolds off. :madflame:

Use lots of Anti-seize when they go back in.
