Due to unforseen circumstances, I need to fix my 95 most riki tick. To do that,.I have to lower the passenger side of the engine a few inches to drill the timing tensioner stud out. I only have hand tools and a couple of floor jacks/jack stands. Can I just loosen the 4 subframe bolts and lower it a bit or is there more I gotta knock loose?

You should be able to just loosen the driver's side subframe bolts a touch, then removed the passenger side bolts to lower the passenger side. Depending on how far down you need to go, you may be able to get away with not undoing anything else. Just lower very slowly and look at hoses, wiring and especially the DIS clearance to the passenger strut tower when lowering. Be smart and double and triple check everything and you should be fine.

I really can't think of anything that would be hurt by lowering the subframe a couple of inches. Just pay attention to the radiator hoses, and I might disconnect the DIS just to eliminate any possibility of that wiring getting stretched out, though I think that's a somewhat remote possibility.

Would it be easier to lower the subframe or pop the front and rear motor mount loose and raise the engine enough to get the angle I need to drill out the stud?

I had to do this with the 89. I un bolted the motor mounts front and rear and trans. Used a floor jack to raise the motor high enough to do the job. I jacked it on the pan towards the front of the motor. I just had enough room to get my drill in there.
