My babies having a hard time starting for the last couple of months, and just today I noticed clicking (knocking mabye?) that varies directly with the rpm's. This is my first car and I'd be suprised if it was knocking due to how quiet it is(but I know very little). It's a little tapping sound, and it sounds like it's coming from just under the intake manifold. After my last warranty oil change I was told I need a Fuel Injector Service or somthing along those lines. Also I've been switching between 87 and 93 octane due to prices. Any sugestions?

the knocking could be valves, rod bearings, maybe even an accessory pulley. its tough to say without being there. i know there are some really good threads on how to check to see whats going on.

as far as the hard starts are concerned, have you checked your plug wells for oil? what kind of temperatures have you been having there? how old is the starter? the battery? cold weather never agrees much with the SHO, so it could be a mere cold weather symptom. maybe someone else can offer more help than i can though. let us know and good luck.

What, exactly, do you mean by "hard starts?" Are you saying that the starter cranks for a long period before the engine actually starts and runs on its own? Are you saying that the engine is fighting the starter with backfires and stopping? Need more input.

Hard Starts= I have to turn it over at least twice. Or I just turn it over for about five seconds. And today the check engine light came on for about five minutes but then went off. Do you think the car is ok to drive, or should I have it checked out immediatly.

pull the codes and see what it tells you, it might not be anything major or it might be, did you check the plugwells? give us some more info on the other questions and maybe we can help you more. check my sig for code pulling directions.

Alright, I checked the oil wells, and the plugs are about half way deep in oil. I also check the codes but it dosent seem like any of them are major problems. Here they are: 116, 114, 539, 167, 225, 217, 177, 542, 173. shrug
Thanks so much for the advice I have no clue what I am doing. I don't think a 60k has been done, but I took it to a friend of a friends shop about 5k ago (90,000) and they said it was running strong and it didn't need the service. Hopefully the oil in the wells will get them to do the service, the car also is technically my mom's so no money will be coming out of my pocket. thumbs_u
