I just puller my steering wheel off about 5 minutes ago. There is one clip for the air bag,and another for the horn/cruise.I really don`t see where they could melt, but i`d try pulling the air bag off and check the wires from there. It could have rubbed and split a wire,if not, you`re going to get into the column.

I don't know about the cruise control, but the horn is an easy fix right back of your driver's side fog lamp and you can replace it with one from your local parts store in about 10 minutes. Good luck.

I had this very same probelm. I mean exactly. At the bottom of the steering column under the dash the wires for the horn and cruise buttons on the Steering Wheel come out and go into a clear plastic connector (on my '92) (trace the wires from the buttons if you cant tell which ones). The wires had been cut right where they go into the connector. We took the connector apart and there are 2 thin (very thin) metal fingers that the conetor uses for contact points. These are what the wires are supposed to tie to. We got the metal fingers out and soldered the wires back on and used some shink tubing. You can't put a blob of suff on of the metal fingers will not fit back into the connector. We re-assembled and wallah everything worked....

Hope this helps

Check your Cruise Control Modulator. Its a little black box that sits / plugs in right behind your TB. Mine basically self-destructed by shorting out somehow and melting. If this is the case, you can probably get the part for around $50. I've had several offers in this range. Good luck!

Myshonuff, sometimes you can cut the plugs you need off of harnesses at a salvage yard and save a heck of a lot of money. They usually won't let you cut them off unless the harness is shot already though so locating one might be difficult.

i did try the junk yard for the harness since they told me they had a 93 sho but when i git there the first thing the owner told me was dont cut any wiring from the vehicle so i looked at it to see if at least it had the module and to my surprise i open the hood to find nothing inside at all and i mean nothing.i contacted ford dealer and was told ford no longer stock that plug for the cruise guess ill have to make due with the partly melted one.ps used sho any years are very scarce at junk yards.
