Hood trigger

Does anyone know how the hood trigger works inside the engine compartment beside the battery? (On a 97 SHO)

My car still starts with the hood open.. can still do anything with the hood open actually.. so what's the point of it?

If some one opens the hood with the alarm set then the alarm goes off.

I removed mine completely.

What do you mean doesn't work? Is the rubber plug that it contacts on the hood in good shape?

Yes, but I tested it and the alarm didn't go off.. I had someone push it down.. I armed the car.. he let go.. and nothing happened.

Maybe the switch is bad. Did you test it for continuity?

No, I didn't really bother to look into it more than that. Too much effort for something like this if you ask me.

when u arm the alarm wait 30 secs to a min to arm it self. i noticed that the alarm wont work if u test it right away. wait a bit then every thing shud work properly.

One time I was working under the hood around the battery and intake box. I didn't realize that the alarm was armed. I bumped the trigger and the horn started honking about 6 inches from my head. I jumped about two feet in the air.
