Have any you guys taken off the hood liner? Mine's all ripped up so I just decided to take it off. Is there any undesired effects? And Ik the hood liner is trivial, but I guess you never know........

The hood liners serve 2 purposes. They are sound deadeners and heat insulaters. Removing it will make your engine noise more noticable and more importantly, it will increase the heat to your hood. Your hood will no longer be cool to the touch on really hot days and over time the heat from your engine will ruin the paint on your hood without the liner in place. This will be more noticable with steel hoods vs the plastic SHO hoods but it was installed for a reason.

it is also supposed to act as a fire retardant blanket in case of an engine fire, but I can attest that it is not particularly effective at that...

x2 on the fire retardant. Probably dulls some noise.

Hood liner free since 2010.
