I think it's just called a vacuum resevoir. Are you trying to get a new one and your parts guy can't find it based on the description alone?

I haven't actually seen the Ford part name for it, but it performs the function of a vacuum accumulator. It does provide a small volume of space at a vacuum that can provide for several closings of the secondary butterflies even after the vacuum line is removed from the intake manifold.

My Helm manual has no name, doesn't even talk about them as serviceable. Given Ford's revenue goals for SHO owners, I suspect they will try to sell you a complete intake manifold, (surge plemums, primary runners, secondary runners, and the vaccum thingies plus rubber connectors) all as one for a price that includes a comma.

Time to check ebay.

Have you tried asking Torrie at Ford Parts Network to find it for you based on the description? Also, just your local dealer parts counter guy should be able to show you a pic on their computer screen that you can point to. I know some dealer parts guys are better than others. Hopefully you've found a good one you can go to.

'89 EVTM (possible):

"Manifold Fitting Assembly", pg 216. ?
This is more likely the switch itself, and not the canister. Best bet, remove it & show it to them when you walk into the parts department.

According to 1995 PCED section of the CD,

"The butterfly valve plates are opened by an IMRC vacuum solenoid..." This again is the switch, but you then have narrowed their focus. The diagram I see does call it out as "vacuum reservoir", along with the IMRC Vacuum Solenoid. It's under "Figure 8, Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) System - 3.0L and 3.2L Taurus SHO".

I see lots of diagrams, nothing that explains or denotes the components in the secondaries functioning in the actual Helm manual.

Good luck.
