So my car shifts great until I get on the highway and when I go WOT at anything over 50 mph the engine just revs freely all the way to redline as if the trans is slipping and then BANGS right into gear. So here's how it goes: going 50 , floor it, instead of downshifting it just revs and then BANG. Trans shifts fine around town, even at WOT just not at higher speed (gears).
Trans fluid level is good- doesn't smell burnt and is a nice red color. My od light is not working at all, and the od switch on the shifter does nothing. Had my mechanic check the od solenoid and he said it's good - no broken c-clips. I suppose he really checked it and not just lied.
I don't know where to start fixing this problem - could it be a VSS? Or is it going to be time for a replacement soon? I just need some advice narrowing down everything it could be and leaving the rebuild for a LAST resort. :thankyou:
