I was getting on the highway and was shifting to 5th gear and I had no resistance at all in shifting.... come to find out it it didn't shift at all....

I managed to get to a parking lot and pop of the shifter plate and found out that the mibble shifter cable has popped off the shifter.... so I put it back on and just moved the shifter through the gears and it opos off again... I tired it a few times jsut to be sure it ws on there all the way and I got the same result... I did manage to get it to my mothers house in 2nd all the way... is there supposed to be a clip that holds the shifter cable on? cause all i see is a knuckle for it to pop on too...

anyone help frown

I'm sorry man, do you have any pics, I'm not sure what you're talking about with the knuckle, but about 5-6weeks ago my 90 cable snapped while shifting into fourth, I luckily somehow got into fourth and stayed there until two weekends ago, it fried what was left of my clutch which is getting replaced today.
But two weeks ago I took the opportunity to install a rodshifter and I don't regret all the hours I put into it.

maybe I was kinda vauge... you kow where the two cable got ot the shifter? it has a 'knuckle' of sorts ( a ball and scoket joint) ther is the one cable that hooks to the drivers side of the shifter and one that goes in the middle that is the one that keep spopping off... it is not bound or anything cause I can hold it to the shift and it does go into gear... I would love to do the rod conversion.. but i been layed off and don't have the money fo rit.. much less a new cable :(

is your center shifter cable around at all? :D

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah I had two cables, one that controlled the shifter moving left-right on the side, while the cable that connected to the center controlled up-down. Here you can see my center cable, it snapped off at the cable, and not the joint. If the joint isn't staying, I don't know why or how to go about that. But if you do get a rod in there you will like it thumbs_u
To quote HunterVF "Maybe I shouldn't have sold my rod shifter" to Redstar hahahah :p
