hey everybody,

I want to make my 89 SHO look better.

In terms of the exterior, I want to paint it some sort of metallic blue/midnight metallic blue. But I'm no fool, and I've heard of paint jobs being really expensive. I am prepared to do all the body work myself (with the help of some friends), but

what's the least expensive, but quality way to get the car sprayed?

and in terms of the interior, it is gray. the front seats have rips, rears are alright...but I wouldn't call the interior "pretty" haha any suggestions?

As for the interior, a good soaping of the carpet will rid it of most stains... I would just redo the front seats or find a new set of seats to put in... Thats really all you can do to fix tears and stains.

Not going to lie, if you plan on making the sho a show car, or intend to pay up to 3 times what it is worth get it painted at a top quility shop. If it your everyday driver get a nice macco. IMO

if you did all the prep work first, it would be cheaper to take it to a professional and have him spray a base coat clear coat type paintjob.

Do all the sanding, dent filling in, rust fixing, and priming before taking it over there

also masking everything off yourself and removing the trim pieces will save you money.

What costs so much to do a good color change is that you need to paint the engine bay, under the hood, under the trunk and all the door jambs.

Even the best paint job will look bad if the prep (bodywork) is not done right. Bite the bullet and leave it to a pro. Just my .02.

These cars have a low resale value, would be cheaper save your money and for the price of a nice paint job, you may be able to purchase another SHO that already has great paint and a bunch of mods. ;)

If you do the prep work fill in the "Taurus" on the doors so it just reads SHO. That looks badass when people do that
