I'm getting a clutch thrown in my '95 and my mechanic is having a hard time identifying a mount. He said it's behind the front driver tire, there's two bolt's on the top, and two bolt's on the bottom. He has like 3 he tried, and none of them fit. What mount is this, and is this something I can pick up at Carquest or Auto Zone? Thanks in advance.

The transmission mount? I think it is a Ford part only, try SHONut. Also Fast Parts Network.

He said it's not a tranny mount because that's what I asked him. That's all he described to me is that it's behind the driver front tire, has two bolts on the top and bottom.

Transmission mount. 2 secure it to the subframe, and 2 to the transmission casing.

You won't find one locally.

The only thing behind the wheel is the transmission mount.

Well, I remember looking at it before I took the car there, and I knew there was a tranny mount, but he said oh no it's not a tranny mount. I'm going to give him **** when I call him about that. Thanks for your help guys, I'll give them a call in a little while.

Why does it need to be replaced? Is it cracked or has the rubber separated?
It may not be like a tranny mount that he has ever seen, but its still a tranny mount. The only other thing I could think of would be the engine roll dampener that attaches to the tranny mount.
+1 on finding a new mechanic.

I would be very worried if a mechanic can not identify a transmission mount.

x3, that's what I was thinking.

Can't think of what else it would be.

I reread your first post and I can't tell if he "he has like 3 he tried" meaning mounts or bolts.

Is it actually blown? If it is you better check the front and rear motor mounts.

ive only heard of one being blown... it does sound like a tranny mount... but the key thing is is that mechanics are ALWAYS right.... atleast when you try to tell them somthing or get information from them

$90 bucks, wtf. I don't know, the car is about 40 miles away from me at his garage and all he said is that it's bad and has to be replaced. And this guy isn't MY mechanic, he's A mechanic that WAS supposed to be good. He's had my for a good month and hasn't made much progress on it, and I'm getting fed up. He just did my buddy's Lightning tranny that he had for 2 months and all he did was rebuild it.

Insist on getting the "Bad One" back. In 14+ years of SHO's, I have never seen one fail by it's self. I bet he fubared it himself. Post pic's.

Yea, I will definately post pictures of it when I get it back. Thanks ohiodude. Search MM.net. There was a Dark Blue Pearl MM for sale on there for a good price. I'm running a Zex wet kit, 3k stall converter, full header back exhaust, CAI, tune and 4.10's. I can't wait to get her to the track and see what she does. I just installed the nitrous about a week ago.
