Hello all. I am researching buying a new to me Gen 4 SHO and my research has led me here. I have browsed the forums and found some really helpful information and thought I would join. I have read several threads helping people determine what to look for when purchasing an SHO, but wanted to pose the same question for my particular situation.

My current daily driver is a 2022 F350 with the 7.3. I am wanting a sport sedan for a secondary daily driver and hobby car. I have a budget of around 15k and have seen some decent cars in that price range. I know that my budget will put me in an older car or something with higher mileage. I have read the PTU, water pump, and timing chain are maintenance items for the higher mileage cars. I have also read threads on keeping the fluids in all systems changed on a regular schedule. Is there a mileage threshold that I should stay under? Other than the different entertainment systems, is there much difference between year models? Are there certain years to avoid?

Again, this car will be a daily driver. I am not interested in any form of racing, just want a car with plenty of power and lots of comfort. I will probably do some mods as budget will allow and can do a lot of work on it myself. I will probably look at upgrading the sound system at some point and have experience with Fords Mytouch, Sync3, and Sync4 systems, and have upgraded the stereo on each platform. I have had multiple F150’s, the last two having the 3.5 EcoBoost so I do have a little experience with a similar platform.

Thanks for reading and any information.

Welcome. The car was basically the same from 13 up but 16 up got sync3. The other difference was PP v non. As always less miles the better.

Agreed. I would suggest a 2015 if you are comfortable doing a Sync 3 conversion or a 2016+ if it is in budget.
