Heard a boing in the steering column

I heard a spring in the column go boing and now the turn signal wont turn off when making turns. I've never swaped the turn signal lever before. What do I need to do cause I have a spare car and wanna know if i can swap it.

Until a couple of days ago I would have told you to remove the airbag and steering wheel. You learn something new every day.

Happens fairly frequently. MFSs are going bad more and more these days...
