Head Gaskets

I see some posts that suggest that the head gaskets are hard to source, or getting very expensive.

Has anyone re-used an existing set of head gaskets. I have seen threads in the Gen III category about coating and reusing head gaskets as they were obsolete first.

I have a vague memory of people using a certain gauge of wire, making a circle and installing it on the head gasket surface, I think to enhance the gasket. That was on the old FE engines if I remember correctly.

Some have had good luck reusing MLS (multi layer steel) head gaskets as on the V8.
You cannot reuse the composite gaskets on the V6.
