Hey everyone, I'm finishing rebuilding my front suspension and there's nothing wrong with the 10k mile old end-links that are on the car now but I was looking to upgrade since everything else I'm doing has been upgrades.

I saw the HD end-links at RCM's site and thought, "this sounds like what I want!".... I didn't even read that they were composite material and I ordered them and got them in yesterday. I opened up the package and noticed how light in weight they were. I popped one out of the bag to find out these were composite material.

The first thing I did was jump on here and did some searching about those to see how people have been doing with this HD composite end-links because the material worries me a bit. From almost everything I read people are having problems with these composite pieces break on them. I don't have an upgraded sway bar yet, but I plan on doing one in the near future and don't want to have spent $70 down the drain on something I didn't even need to replace.

Has anyone had any GOOD luck with these? RCM's site says that these are the best composite links on the market but I'm still very nervous about putting them on. Should I just keep my old links in place? And what's this that I've read about using Windstar links on this car? Are they heavier duty than all of the other SHO links out there on the market? And if I were to go to AutoZone to pick up a pair what year Windstar am I looking for links for??

Thanks!

I have the '94-95 Ford "HD" Endlinks on my '93 with 24/26 (tpr) Tokico/Intrax (-1 coil) and I haven't had a problem with them breaking. I've had this combo for a year and a half now.

Got a pic? If you're talking about the plastic end links used on 94-95 SHOs, they're great, and, as you observed, MUCH lighter than the metal units.

Hmm.. for some reason I never thought about ditching my moogs for the lighter composite ones. That should save on some of the good weight. I just like the Moogs cause of their grease-links.

SHOnut has tubular front end links that are heavier duty than the composite ones, for the Gen I/ii cars. The composite ones on my 95 MTX (oem) did pound out (get loose/knock noises) after 60 k miles or so.

I think the tubular ones (aluminum tube w/plastic ends) are Windstar pieces; I've got a set that came off that '90 with the Konis I ransacked in the local pick-yr-part. They weigh just about nothing - they're lighter than the plastic pieces.

The ones on the car right now are the Moog 'problem solver' pieces circa 1997, they're a single-piece steel unit and are somewhat heavier.
