I've got one. It's not very accurate. I've done quite a few runs at the track with the G-Tech and compared results. Sometimes it's close, sometimes it's off by 3-4 tenths or more. But everytime the trap speed is optimistic.

Now someone will say that the trap speed is the actual speed at the finish line whereas the dragstrip gives an average speed through a 60' section of track. That's BS. I've seen the G-Tech quit timing before I've actually crossed the finish line and the trap speed is always at least 3 mph faster than I was ever going even if i stay on the gas a second or two after the finish line.

For the $40 it's not a bad deal. But if you want real results you have to go to the track.

There is an older GTech pro that you can pick up for $40 or less. I find that the times are a little optimistic, as well. The only thing I have used it for so far is 0-60 times and it gives me a consistent 6.85.

The G-Tech Pro is the oldest version of the G-Tech.

The newer version are the G-Tech Pro Competition and G-Tech Pro Competition SS/RR. Hence the confusion.

Doesn't it all depend on how accuratelly you set up the thing for your car before you use it? Like weight and such? Perhaps some people's times are off due to them not setting it up accuratelly/properly? *I dont know much about this, but im just curious*

The weight is only necessary for the horsepower feature. I never use that anyway. Who cares what the horsepower is, ET's is what you should care about.

My old roommate has the Comp. model, it's accuracy was a little off but it was pretty consistant. Besides it gives you one more toy for the SHO.

I got mine for $39.99 on eBay from "gtechpro" who is now selling them much cheaper. Here is one of his auctions. The biggest PITA about it is that the cheap version needs to be aligned just right on the windshield. If it is not level front to back or left to right, the results will be inaccurate. The new fancy $200 version can measure acceleration in any direction, so mounting position is trivial. The new versions also have a lot of other features.

He has dozens of auctions going and he's been doing it for a while. I bought two of them in November 2003 thinking he was going to run out soon. Guess I was wrong. :laugh_ti:

My friend ran the g-tech PRO on his '99 SHO... He was pretty happy with the results,

15.5 s @ 90.4 MPH

my poor GL ran a 17.7 s @ 78mph and my mom's duratec ran 16.02 @ 86.5mph

all the cars are stock (engine wise)

It was pretty fun, we kept asking eachother how it new what we were doing... :p

I bought mine on eBay ... works fine. I don't know how accurate, but it is consistent. Great for tuning your SHO!
