He said once his is done others should be easy, but they said the same thing about mine and to the best of my knowledge none of the kits that were based on mine are operational yet after 4 years.

Yes, I do have a Vortech A-1 in S trim on my car.97shobroken said:Dont you run a s/c , what was all did it all take to do . Did it cost alot is your motor stock.![]()
"Wow, WTF is that?" comment when they "hear" you pull up at a light (I have found that most chicken out and don't want to run you) then throw a bucket of money at it and put on some sort of blower.ArkanSHO said:Jose (M5Spanker) from LA on the V8 list has his at a fabricator right now getting the turbo all piped in. All it took is a month to get it fabbed up, about a year to get it tuned halfway decent, almost the same amount to make it reliable so it wasn't eating auxillary drive seals or belts and a lot of patience.
Seems to have run a lot more then I was initially expecting. The original estimate was for about $4,000 but it has ballooned over the years to somewhere over $10,000 since the parts involved in making it reliable weren't really designed to be that way. Things like bearings and seals in the auxullary drive shaft, even the drive shaft itself were remade a couple of times to find a reliable combination. You would be totally amazed at the loads and RPM's involved. It was bending 1/4" steel plate, twisting #8 grade bolts and crumbling 12,000 RPM 2.5" ball bearings. Even ended up with a couple of different versions of the intake pre-TB until one proved relaible as some kept blowing off under full boost. And I am not including the motor pieces, transmissions, torque converters or tires it has "used" up in the process.
Yes, the motor is for the most part stock. Mind you I am on the third one now though since putting the blower in. The first two seemed to have failed at the rings (piston burning then locking the upper rings shattering them along with the land) on number five first. Not real clear why but other N/A and juiced cars seem to abuse number five also from what I have been reading recently.
I can say it has been on the car for over 4 years and 55,000 miles so far and I wouldn't trade it for anything short of a real bad ass 959.
In short, if you are looking to go fast: Buy a "Stang" or some rice. If you want to make your SHO go fast: Buy an earlier gen with a 5 speed. If you want to go "faster" in your GEN 3, get it juiced but keep it under a 75 shot. If you just want a"Wow, WTF is that?" comment when they "hear" you pull up at a light (I have found that most chicken out and don't want to run you) then throw a bucket of money at it and put on some sort of blower.
