So it rained fairly hard today, and for the first time with the 99 parked outside. I started it up and the blower was making funny noises. I looked over and bam, the floor is all wet.

So I figured out the water got in through the inlet filter under the cowl. I noticed the plastic cover attached right above the filter ends a little early. Water was dripping into the filter and then into the cooling ducts in the car.

I added some West Virginia chrome (duct tape) to the plastic filter cover to ensure that the water drips down and avoids the filter. Notice in this picture below, I already reassembled it.

Here's a better pics showing the duct tape, I'm actually using it for some duct work! First time for that!

Hopefully the rain stays out now. The rain cover ford put on there was not the best design - it needs to be a 1/2" longer. Anyone else had this problem?

I had this problem when I worked at a Ford Dealership. They took my car to the body shop and a guy there cut a quart of oil in half and put it over the cabin air filter. Haven't had any water inside since.
