A hundred watt lighting harness Sylvania Silver Stars and properly aimed lamps are very good on the Gen 3. And much cheaper than HIDs.

The harness is as much of an improvement as the better bulbs are. The Gen 3 has very small gauge wire for the headlamps.

I think that the main reason that most people get the HIDS are for looks. They look great at night. I am trying to talk myself into getting a set. I have heard that they have problems. The last thing that I want to deal with are my head lights not working. I am going to look over the idea and maybe order a set this winter. Getting back to the question about lights, get what ever your wallet can handle...josh

I still have the stock headlights in my SHO. In stock form these headlights blow monkey nuts. I really need to buy the 100w wiring harness and then but the super-powerful headlights.

but they dont even compare to HIDS.. No way no how.

I have HIDS and had them for almost 2 years now. and I pull along Fred with his silver stars and you dont even know there is other lights around.

the SS is a nice upgrade with the harness but dont compare at all to hids,

Never said they did. But for $50 bucks the harness and better bulbs make a big change. If the headlamp housing is not made for HIDs the beam pattern is very annoying to other people.

Excellent point. Not good to do things for looks but then blind opposing traffic.

Where is a good place to buy the whole HID setup for my SHO? Are there companies that are better then others. I know that Wuzzer was having problems with his bulbs when he put his in. Did you have any problems with your Kirk? shrug

While i was at Drivin' Styles the ther day i was asking about the HID's, and for 500 bucks i could have gotten a single filament setup,(no high beam).
I also mentioned that i was heading to fFlorida this weekend and he said that they will probably be cheaper down there.
He also recamended SPW for a brand, who gives you an upgraded wiring harness with the kit, while other companies do not.

I have the HID's in my SVT focus and you really wouldn't beleive the difference at night. It truely is a great investment for looks and even more for safety. Prices are going down on these kits quite rapidly....I remember when they first came out you couldbn't touch them for under a grand....then you saw them for 700...and like someone said before he could get them for 500. They really are great hail

Kirks car with HID's looks kickass.

I got to see them light up when he went out one night at the convention. Seeing them made me want to get a GEN 3 just so I could have real HID lights :)

But I'm not willing to give up my MTX SHO's just yet.

Just a quick warning for everyone putting HID bulbs into Halgen housings:
It causes major glare basically blinding oncoming traffic, and now HID "kits" are illegal in the US. (Although my setup may even be illegal now also).

98 SHO, put in a set of silverstars, some improvement. install a 100w harness from xenonmods.com [I think that is the site] more improvement. best, replaced the bug and rock sanded headlight lens with a new set. the new headlights added as much as the SSs and harness combined. if your lens are not crystal clear no amount of power or light will help.
