Define Gut. Porting the intake is pretty common. I'm doing an extreme port on a spare intake that I have now. At the very least you can remove the horns, add big bore butterflys, and gasket match the runners to the tanks and heads.
I thought some people remove the butter flys. Not the throttle body butterfly obviously. And port eh i wasnt going to bother porting it seeing as how my turbo will be able to pop the trans. Just wanted to see if anyone removed those secondairy butterflys so then i could get rid of the vaccum line to that .
I removed the secondaries when I had The Other Woman blown, no need for them in my opinion, but your tuner dude needs to know what he is doing. I also did not see the need for EH with forced induction. I'm only running 8 lbs of max boost with the turbo and that makes them shrivel up pretty small as it is.
Oh duh. Was thinking for the past 5mins of sensors or parts abbreviated to eh lol. So is it pretty simple on removing the secondaries on what to do and what not? Car is outside and im to lazy to go look right now.
without the butterflies, it will be like the secondaries are open all the time. That reduces the torque below 4000 rpm. Make sure you understand the consequences of that - it will reduce performance and reduce mileage at lower rpms (read: normal driving) and you will be using the boost more of the time than you otherwise need.
removing the butterflies without going to boost is a singularly bad idea -it will just make the car more of a dog.
