hi all,

i'm hearing a new sound coming from my car. yay!

with the ac on. if i rev it (not to redline or anything). especially when i reversing out of somewhere, i hear a kind of high pitch grinding sound. with the ac off, i hear nothing. it's not super loud, but definitely there.

car's been running a little slow lately, wondering if this has something to do with it. ac compressor bearing anyone? the ac clutch is 30K miles old.

ac still blows cold, but not as cold as it used to be.

see ya,

AC clutch is going, dude..I know, I am going through the same thing right now...

Did you replace JUST the clutch? or the whole compressor? I was told that replacing the clutch only wasn't a good thing...

if the clutch is shot. could it be the reason my car feels a little sluggish? extra drag on the engine. evne with the ac off?

you know, everything this mechanic in la replaced, broke, i don't think this guy actually did ANYTHING!

anyway, until i have time to deal with it, can i bypass te ac with a "non a/c belt?"

osman, what did you pay to fix it?

okay, what's the going rate for the clutch? i think it's around $80-90, right? i gotta check. i'm thinking one last go around with the old compressor and a new clutch. the last one lasted 30K. actually not that bad. i most likely won't have the car in another 30K anyway.

what do you guys think?

I just searched the forum for a used r134a compressor and was successful.

About the car feeling sluggish, I found tonight while driving home in a pounding rainstorm, and the defroster on (I guess it runs off the AC compressor), the car was sluggish.
