Just bought a 2010 SHO on Sunday (my fisrt SHO) and have been thinking about changing the Grille. I was curious if anyone has had their stock grille custom painted to match the body (or any color for that matter) and has any pics. The car is tuxedo black, so I think a black grille of the same color may give a good look, just like the grille on the Explorer Limited, but I am not going to paint the thing without seeing if someone else has first. I have considered a black Mobsteel, but I actually like the design of the original grille, just not in chrome/silver. Thanks in advance, from the new guy.

I have painted grilles in the past. If you use the Krylon for plastic, it will bond well.
Also... you can re-paint every year or 2 to keep it nice. I used it on my G8 engine cover and it worked flawlessly.

One of the first mods I did was color matched the grille to the car color, along with most of the other chrome also. Just had to have it repainted due to chips and it looks good as new.

It's taken a LONG time for the elitist V owners to finally listen, but Plasti-dip has taken the Caddy world by storm.
Stop being buttplugs and use the dang stuff! I've had the plastic mesh grilles on my V done for about 7 months. It is still flawless. It will not chip and is incredibly easy to apply.
Every time I see any of you goobers talk about chips in your painted grilles, I will laugh and mock you, relentlessly, until you use the stuff.
Get it at your local Home Depot...

And Jim, your V looks sick, but even my factory paint is chipping off the bumper. I can see an auto body shops paint maybe not living up to Ford's so-called "special paint" they used to help promote the car when new, but it would take a lot of Plasti-dip to the bumpers. But does it come in silver??

Is the silver insert able to be pulled apart from the chrome grill housing? I am curious about what it looks like on the car without it or with a mesh behind the grille.

I like your style... I was actually thinking about only color matching the pieces you painted black and leaving the rest chrome or all three bars black and leave the outer chrome... now that I have seen yours i think I am going with option 1. Thanks for the help.
I just purchased chrome overlays for the two "shaver" grill bars that I plan to paint black to match my body color on my 2012 that I just bought 4 weeks ago. I wasn't positive that I would like it so when I saw these on eBay I thought it would be the perfect way to try it with the ability to go back if needed. I should have them in a couple days, so hopefully I'll have them painted next weekend.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I wonder how this would hold up on wheels? trying to make it easier to remove the brake dust.
