Not a SHO build, but I'm bored of just lurking and I'm sure some of you wouldn't mind seeing this. Anyways, about a month ago my GP's tranny went, I had some plans for the summer, it's basically got every bolt on possible + a cam. I didn't have on a aftermarket TB, MAF, or IC, but I had all of them just sitting here waiting for summer. I then could make some good power, but my stock tranny was holding me back from going to a full size IC and shooting for some serious power. But when the tranny went, I tossed a lot of money at a built trans, and a full size IC kit, and a lot of other things, and heres the workings so far (Shooting for 360 - 370whp).

First off, heres another pic besides my sig pic of the car
GTX-Pass-Front---No-Date.jpg

Here's the IC Kit in all it's glory

And here's a comparison of the IC core I was goign to use (on the right) and the new one I am using (on the left).
S2-vs-SS-IC-Cores.jpg

Here's the SC after I yanked it off the car, and a shot of how it will look on the IC core
M90-IC%27d.jpg

And here's the SC all painted up
M90-Painted.jpg

Along with painted valve covers

Here's the GTX under surgery, and just a look at how huge the IC Front Mount Heat Exchanger is, it will require a bit of cutting to make fit.
FMHE---No-Bumper.jpg

And here's the lower intake manifold with a massive section cut out so it matches the IC Core size for more surface area to **** heat.
Ported-Lim.jpg

Going to go do some more work on the beast tonight, forgot my camera yesterday. But I torqued the LIM back on and then set the IC core and SC on top of it to see if they would actually fit under the hood, and they barely did thank god. Will be some sexy pictures of that tonight.

not bad. i dont really understand the IC... is it air to air? or is it antifreeze? i have not had any S/C cars yet. and i feel your pain with the intercooler chopping up the bumper and all that jazz. i just did that to the audi

It's water to air, since there isn't room to turn the M90 on it's side, a heatcore goes under the SC, and a Heat Exchanger goes up front. Then I basically run antifreeze in it. I think I'm going to try and stay away from hacking the crap out of the bumper, I should be able to keep it almost completely intact, might have to cut about an inch out of the bottom for the width of the FMHE, I got a kid that rides in this car, so need to keep as much support up front incase of a crash.

Anyways, got more done today, time for sexy pictures :D

This is how I left the SC and IC test fit from yesterday, not bolted down, just sitting there looking sexy.
M90-Black-Test-Fit.jpg

But then I had to pull those back off and finish the rest of the days plans. So back to basics.
Valve-Covers-and-LIM.jpg

Here's a quick shot of the IC Core by itself on there.
IC-Test-Fit.jpg

The real order of business was a bit more paint before everything got put on, so I added in a bit of silver then bolted it all down for good. (I love how this looks, very sinister)
M90-Bolted-Down.jpg

M90-Bolted-Down-Front.jpg

And before I went out to work on the car, I had sanded down my fuel rails to get some paint to match my silver accented theme. Heres a shot after the sanding, I liked the look so I wanted to stay close to the color after paint to match the IC core and look like real metal.
Fuel-Rail-Sanded.jpg

And the paint turned out amazing, they look great.
Fuel-Rail-Painted.jpg

Too bad I have to cut them up a bit and extend them with some fuel hose (notice the 1 injector I put in (on the left hand side) to show the distance I need to make up) But notice how closely the color matches the SC core like I had planned, very nice!
Short-Fuel-Rails.jpg

And that was basically it, the SC and IC core are all torqued down to spec, now it's time to start tearing the tranny out. But I did get these in the mail also (with some matching foglights which I don't have pictures of)
Headlights.jpg

These should finish up the blacked out look real nice.

Looks good man. I assume you're going to use a resevoir with that intercooler set-up so if you do, use some dry ice in the resevoir to get your charge temperature below ambient. The guys with Hayabusa and Yamaha drag bikes use alcohol and dry ice combined in their tanks and get 30-40 degrees below ambient in their charge temps. You have to flush out all the alcohol afterwards though, aluminum doesn't like alcohol.

I'd like to run a Res so I could cool, but right now I'm just hoping to get it done and on the road. I only planned on spending about $600 this year in parts and aiming for around 310whp, but when the weakest link went and I had the cash I had to go all in, total so far is somewhere around $3,500 :nut: I just kept looking at new parts and saying "well might as well do it once and do it right" and the total kept going up, next year will most likely get a Res, Nitrous, and some DR's and try for a high 10's pass, that or go turbo.

I'd love to ride in that when its finished. Keep up the good work!

I almost was able to make it to the meet you guys had up at Black Bear a while ago, maybe if you have another round up up north I'll swing by, hopefully the STI club is there this time too

I hate to be blunt, but someone has to be, but the twins cities crew has gone north twice now to accomodate people in the northern part of the state that didnt want to make a trip south. NO body showed up on the first trip and 1 showed the second trip. compared to 5 or 6 going north each time. Im not saying i didnt have a good time and Im not saying that it isnt possible for a drive north in the future but i for one will not be pushing for it unless there is some inishitive shown this time.:angelnot:

BTW, excellent job on the gtp:dribble:

Yeah, I haven't really been back to shoforum like I use to be on here, didn't know there was a 1st meet, found out about the 2nd meet the night before it happened, but really didn't have any info. But I know what you mean, don't want to drive for people to not show up. Just was putting the offer up for some rides though if you guys end up coming up north, my traveling will be down to a minimum this summer as I've already spent almost 4 grand on this little project :(

Prob all depends on what it's in, but 500 n/a HP works too!

Thats a lot of power to make NA, especially if it's whp, starts to become hard to drive on the street. I'll take my boost and be over 400 flywheel hp pretty easily and still use this as my DD.

Not as hard to make the 500 I'm speaking of when it's stock in a V10 and also depends on what it's in and what it was built to be as to whether or not it's easy to drive or usable as a DD. Most of the locals here know what I was getting at. Vehicles like a Ram SRT10, for instance (speaking from personal experience) or a GT500 (not n/a, but same diff. power wise) are very easy on the street and just fine for DD if one wants to use them as that, especially if you're not worried about gas mileage, needing to haul kids around or in alot of stop and go trafic. If something like that were to be an only vehicle, then it's obviously a whole different story.

SHO or not that is going to be a sweet GTX when it's all said and done! I really like those cars, there is one lurking around here that I see about once every full moon so not very often. Can't wait to see it when you have it all done!

Not sure what either of those cars have anything to do with mine, especially when I will be using my backseat for a kid seat. And hopefully trapping around 115mph, which is plenty fast enough for a V6 Family sedan, and also doesn't cost me anywhere from 50 to 90 grand.

Yeah, I'm getting really anxious to finish it up, going to be a lot of fun. Where abouts are you at in MN? The GTX's are quite rare, I think I got the only one in the Duluth area, even got a few friends with GTP's and they didn't even know what a GTX was, made me laugh.

I didn't know until i googled it. this was found a forum so im not sure how accurate it is:

Unlike the Camaro SS and Firebird Firehawk, the Grand Prix GTX was never a factory option. It is an aftermarket package that could be financed with a new GP purchase, but was completed at a regional SLP facility.

From 1997-2002, SLP offered a single $2400 GTX package. At first only GTPs were converted, but eventually the GT and even the SE was added to the mix.

STANDARD
Forced Air Induction System, including airbox with K&N air filter
Functional composite RAM AIR hood with twin scoops
Two GTX RAM AIR key fobs, gold electro-plated
GTX RAM AIR exterior cloisonne nameplates (deck lid and doors)
OPTIONS

Larger diameter sway bars
Racing stripes ($119)
Cat-back exhaust w/ dual outlets and dual tips ($799GTP/GT, $ 299SE)
Visor integrated Homelink Universal Transmitter ($149)
In 2003, SLP began to offer packages:

STANDARD
Base = hood, airbox, three new designed badges, two headrest decals ($2199)
Stage 1 = Base package plus cat-back exhaust w/ chrome single outlet tips ($799)
Stage 2 = Stage 1 plus 180 thermostat & hypertech programming ($1499)
Stage 3 GTP= Stage 2 plus 3.5 pulley ($1599)

16" BF Goodrich KDW tires ($799)
Lowering package ($499)
Brake and handling package ($749)

Nothing and Neither did my 1st post that you replied to, which was referencing Tyler's post right before it and your reply to that had nothing to do with either. As far as what those posts referred to, being a good street car or DD, isn't generally a factor. I was replying to what you posted to me which had nothing to do with your car, nor did my post.

Wasn't knocking your project either, I like that style GP and hope to see it when your done, sound like it'll be pretty nice :thumb:. I was simply replying to your statement and saying 500hp doesn't automatically make a vehicle hard to street or a bad dd as you seemed to be saying, not all boosted cars are good street/DD cars either. They're same as I said about n/a, all depends on what it's built for.

Also, for WIW, most of the 2 previously mentioned vehicles stickered at $45-55k stock and many could be had brand new for well below that. $33 in my case. Prob wouldn't have it otherwise. Don't know where you got 90k, Vipers maybe?, which are not that good for the street and def not good DD's are up around 90k+, but not the Viper trucks.

:salute:
