Funny story on how I got me an original fiberglass cincysho hood.

Went to look at a white packaged 92. New trans, clutch, black all leather, sunroof, rusty, but it did have an original Borla exhaust, and short throw of some sort. Motor in need of a 60k.

Regardless, its decent. Guy wants $1500 for it. Probably gonna pass on it, the guy that owned that car before always took it to a shop in WIS. called shoplus or something or the other. Back in like 2000-2002 around there. So the car was in pretty decent shape. ALSO HAD TOKICOS on stock springs. Caught my eye. But the guy that was selling it mentioned to me that he could get a hold of this hood that was supposed to be carbon fiber which I am not a big fan of. So I had him call the guy and he said he'd drop it off at my place for like $300. So I said do it.

Guy shows up. And it happens to be a cop now. He also just got back from Iraq not too long ago. So we chatted about shos and the army and whatnot, he commented how when he had it he did 140 and whatnot. And how he got the hood a while ago like in 02, and that he went to their shop in Cincinatti to get it. Pretty cool.

So the hood is ready to be painted, what would be a good color? Thinking about black but I don't know. Grayish?
Also going to install hood pins. as its the original hood latch is giving me ****. PLus I don't really trust it that much. Opinions on color?

here's a bad pic. Hood still needs to be aligned and everything.

Match it to the color of the car. :thumb: and while you're at it spray your front bumper.

x2. Color match. The shop was Performance Plus. The Borla is expensive and the Cinci hood (if it's a Cinci hood) is fiberglass.

Right on that shop name. And I am aware that it is an original cincysho hood and that its fiberglass like I said in the first post. Also aware of the price on the borla but, I was somewhat disappointed on the sound. Not that great.

I'm also probably gonna have them put yamaha dohc or something along those lines on the side of the cowl. :sun:

I personally would paint it to match the car as well. I think carbon fiber is extremely tacky in my opinion.

Nix the pins. At speed, the rear of the hood is where the lift is.

I have close to 50,000 miles on my Cincy hood with no signs of stress at the latch.

Do use a strike plate though as the latch will eat through the opening in time without.

GREEN

At speed, the rear of the hood is where the lift is.

When I first got my c/f hood it didn't close all the time, just on the safety latch. It was where it was supposed to be so it wasn't catching the wind like that. Sure enough at 80 it would pop up.

I'm not running pins either though, the latch does it's job, when it's latched. :snicker:
