Found out at school from my instructor, who was a Ford Master Tech for 35 years that the crank sensor was the culprit.

Im ordering the part hopefully sometime next week. Can anyone give me some words of advice for doing this project? Thanks

Replace the water pump, timing belt, cam seals and crank seals while you're there.

This is a must!! Just do everything while you are already in there, it isnt much harder at all because you are already taking 90% of the stuff apart anyways. I did all of mine at once and im glad I did.

And yeah when I saw this thread titled CRACK sensor I was hoping it was Crank sensor

When you take off the old crank sensor, look for any signs of coolant on or around it. It's usually pretty obvious. What happens a lot of time is the WP, which is right above it, starts leaking out of it's telltale hole, and coolant drops on the CPS. It eventually causes the CPS to malfunction. If the area is dry, imho there is no need to replace the water pump. If it is wet, you really need to replace it.

Here is the problem with that ... crank sensors don't wear out, something makes them short out. 97% of the time it is a leaking water pump, the other 2.5% of the time it is the front oil seal leaking. If you don't replace the water pump, if it's leaking, you WILL be replacing the crank sensor again.

 That being said, I had a customer bring me a car to replace just the WP. My luck, put the water pump on and YAY! it doesnt run........ So, I had to tear it all apart again.
