i know i know i know..this has been covered many times, but i just have 2 questions...

1) i ordered P/N 10329687, will these need to be trimmed ? if so, how much ?

2) is it really necessary to use SHONUTs reducing sleeve ? why couldnt you just drill out the knuckle and use larger hardware ?

1) You should trim around 1/4" off of each threaded end to shorten the each are a total of 1/2" or so.

2) Drilling them out would be possable, (though it may weaken the parts) but you may have a tough time drilling the H-box correctly.

What he said. If you were able to accurately drill out the holes I guess that is preferable to reducing sleeves. That is also alot of work. I thought about it myself and might do it when I get a spare set of rear knuckles. It's alot easier to get it right on a bench with a drill press, at least for my crosseyed drilling habits. frown

Hey Dale being that you're in TX why not look in some boneyards for a set. IIRC Adam Varney got a nice set of all 4 from a yard in TX for like $100 shipped. I was planning on going that route myself.

Find me a set too while your at it. www.car-parts.com, I'll give ya that intake you wanted and a bunch of other goodies too.

Bruce Bruce Bruce...as i type this, i recieve an email from GMpartsdirect, confirming my shipment of control arms. i could have done the boneyard search but been too busy working 6 days a week at my job and 5 days a week working on other ppls cars. sleep is what i do with my free time. but if youd like a set, as soon as it warms up (can ya believe it got down to 10 degrees last nite ?) and i have a free day, ill hit the yards in search for ya. id say Saturday but it looks like my dad and i are roadtripping to Denver to pick up some doors for his 56 Dodge Custom Royal. itll be a few weeks before i can get to the yards to look. while im there, i could look for a set of knuckles for myself as well.

jello - it is possible with a right angle attachment for the drill, using a step drill bit. as for the H-box, i have some steel stock i can put in to reinforce it. as for the knuckle, ill have to wait and see. but thanks for the reply on the 1/4" trim !

luigi - it cant be that hard to do :p i plan on removing the knuckles anyway.

One last thing: If your going to put an H-brace in while you have it appart don't forget to drill out the holes in it also if you go that route.

That's exactly what I did when I installed my FPS arms. Didn't even break my cheap harbor freight $7 step drill bit. No need to remove the knuckles, there's already a king sized pilot hole started for you. :p
