Pop lock n drop
Well, this weekend has been a very busy few days for my SHO... After it has been sitting for almost a year due to a spun bearing in late oct. 05 and an engine swap in march of 06, i have decided to put the final touches on the car so i can finally drive her again!
When i put the new engine in, it had a bad rear chain tensioner. Finding another one was not easy. But i finally got it and after pulling the valve covers, i decided to do a compete 60k... *i had no idea what i got myself into
*
In the past 3 days, i have replaced the following:
chain tensioners
timing belt
belt tensioner
cam sensor
crank sensor
coolant sensor, rad cap and thermostat
plugs and wires
w/p
belts
complete valve job
cleaned intake with new gaskest top to bottom
cleaned radiator
complete fluid flush including the transaxle
brake pads and rotors
rod bearings
After tonight i am glad i did the rod bearings... all 6 top bearings had lots of copper showing and the #4 bearing had worn past copper with the bottom bearing just as worn.
Its not a very good pic but its the only camera i had today.
The valves were all in spec so that was an easy fix
All in all, i am very happy with how the job went. This was the first time i have ever tore deep into an engine (not to mention i did it all alone with only a Chilton) and i definately learned a few new tricks and a crap load more tools.
Thanks for all the resources here on SHOForum!!! Couldn't of done it without. :type:
