I have a issue with my 1990 sho, after it gets up to operating temp it seems to make a ticking noise under the valve cover it sounds like the timing gear. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for the feedback!

how loud is it? injectors make a ticking noise normally. at this age a pulley or tensioner bearing could be wearing out

It's not really a ticking noise it's more like the cam shaft chain is rubbing on the valve cover

The pad on the cam chain tensioner could have worn off and the chain my be grinding on it. That happened to my 94.

Check the valve lash and see if any of the shims are deeply dished.
Before you dismantle anything, use a wooden handle or a chopped up hockey stick (to listen) to try and figure out if it coming from one bank which will make your quest easier.
