The metal L bracket or the plastic retainer clips?

retainers/grommets

I am talking about the long retainer(about 4ft long) that is rivited to the rocker. It is rusted beyond help, the rocker panel is fine!! Need to replace just the retainer...the little ones on the qtr pnls and L-shaped ones on the fenders are reuseable. I also need the grommets that snap into the doors which the upper door mldings clips, snap into.... They are little round grommets, off white in color...They are for an 89..

I need to do the pass. side on my 93... Its actually sticking off the rocker some and you can see in there... Rocker is fine like yours. AFAIK you just have to find a good used one. I'm gonna get the one off the parts car at my JY. Of course its only got one good one... Either that or I'm gonna try to make one.

What I may do is use a few sections of what I have..after looking at this big retainer...its sole purpose is to hang and secure the rocker cover moulding in place. If I cut the less rusted sections of the retainer in four small sections and rivit them on spaced across the rocker evenly...they should work. Besides, where am I going to find 15 + years old non-rusted retainers from...

Yeah I just made new ones out of plastic, no more corrosion issues! Could also do them in aluminum or new metal.

I can help with the grommet retainers. I have new stock at $0.50 each. They are not cheap. Rear doors require 5 each and the front doors require 7 each.
I also carry other specialized fasteners and hardware.
On a side note. If you have access to a nutsert gun I would use them (8-32 size) instead of rivets. That way they are easily removable if needed.
Just my 2 cents.
