Well I've put off changing struts/springs for way too long . . . coming out of Ace hardware today I notice something peeking out from under passenger side 1/4 panel. Looking closer, I see it's the part of the panel that is supposed to be folded under and pinched to wheel well. I can only imagine that I hit a bump in the road (I suspect I know where) and the original 17 year old strut/spring assembly just couldn't control the impulse load. Later on I looked around the tire and did notice a small chunk taken out. So I'm currently riding granny style still I can install new assemblies. Mounting slightly larger than OEM tires saved me some $$$ the last couple sets, but didn't help me in this situation.

Though it seems like fewer and fewer of the knowledgeable folks are checking this forum anymore, I read some older posts that mention Gen IV (2001 in particular) struts with Eibach springs. Does anyone have info on part numbers for the Eibachs and/or any experience with this setup?

Thanks!

Funny thing last night - after changing oil I took passngr side front tire off to hammer the 1/4 panel inner seam upward into the wheel well (also put a course of grease on it as well - see pics). After reinstalling and dropping the car, I went for a test drive. Later on I'm closing up the garage and -oops- I realize I forgot to final tighten the lugs (tightened well enough with wrench before dropping car), and further, the security lug adapter is . . . gone. I'd left it on before going on test drive. Being one who doesn't adjust well with accepting things like that, I went out with my flashlight to look for the adapter, backtracking the mile long test drive I took. After a few minutes, a police car drove by, and not wanting to be "questioned" I went in. Get up this morning on a mission, get on my bike, and found the adapter where I had turned around during test drive, sitting out in the middle of the small intersection, pretty as a picture.

I don't think I need the security lug adapter anymore with my nasty wheels, but it's good that I can now preserve it for posterity.
